Crash on the M5 between car and van closed caused three miles of …

The crash was reported between junctions seven and eight, on the M5 heading northbound at approximately 2.06pm.

The collision caused 30-minute delays for traffic and police at the time could not confirm if people were trapped.

An image taken from the website, motorwaycameras.co,uk, showed the extenet of the congestion shortly after the crash was first reported.

West Mercia Police and National Highways teams attedned the scene following the crash.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The incident was a collision between a car and a van between J7 and J8 near Strensham Services.

"Two lanes were blocked, and people may have been trapped but we cannot confirm yet."

One lane closed so that the vehicles invovled could be recovered and drivers were warned to take care on the approach.

Lanes were cleared at 2.34pm following the crash but there is was still major congestion and 20-minute delays.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue were not in attendance at the scene of the crash, and neither were West Midlands Ambulance Service.

It is not known if any injuries were sutained to drivers of the car and the van, or if any passengers were invovled.
