Cyclist fighting for his life as driver arrested after town centre crash

A cyclist is fighting for his life following a crash in Warrington[1] on Friday afternoon (April 14).

The collision occurred on Priestly Street, Bewsey and Whitecross, close to Warrington town centre, at around 4.15pm. Officers found that the cyclist, a 46-year-old man, had been seriously hurt following the incident with a Fiat Qubo, a compact mini-van, near the pedestrian crossing on Priestly Street, A57.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has since been released under investigation. The cyclist was taken to the Walton Centre, a neurology hospital in Fazakerly, Liverpool, for treatment.

Police officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dashcam or CCTV footage from around the time of the incident to come forward.
