GKN Automotive has joined a new €4m European R&D project launched by Mondragon University. The project aims to develop lower cost, more efficient permanent magnet eMotors with increased power density for mass produced next-generation electric vehicles (EVs).
RS Group unveils partnership on unique energy harvesting device as part of Earth Week
RS Group plc, a global omni-channel provider of product and service solutions, has unveiled details of its close partnership with WITT Energy and the development of the highly innovative WITT device, as part of ‘Earth Week’, leading up to ‘Earth Day’ on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
WITT Energy is a start-up company that has developed an award-winning device that harvests otherwise untapped motion and turns it into usable power.
Radius Aerospace factory in Shrewsbury set to close
An aerospace factory is set to close because of falling orders following Covid and rising energy costs.
Radius Aerospace said over the past three years it had been making changes to the site, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, to adapt to a changing market.
But it said those changes had not been enough to maintain its profitability.
Research centre boosts road freight’s delivery of carbon cuts
Quantities of carbon emitted by freight vehicles could be cut significantly thanks to breakthroughs at the EPSRC-funded Centre for Sustainable Road Freight.
Established in 2012, this collaboration between the University of Cambridge, Heriot-Watt University and the University of Westminster is working closely with leading road hauliers and other companies with big road freight operations to help put the sector on a zero-carbon trajectory.
BYD–Alexander Dennis partnership delivers 39 electric buses to Stagecoach in Scotland
Alexander Dennis and BYD UK have jointly announced that their electric vehicle partnership has completed the delivery of 39 zero-emission buses to Stagecoach.
The 24 BYD AD Enviro200EV single deckers and 15 BYD AD Enviro400EV double deckers have been allocated to Stagecoach’s operations across Scotland. 13 buses for Perth joined nine earlier vehicles to convert all local services in the city to electric. Another 11 buses have made all of Dunfermline’s city network zero emission. A further 15 vehicles joined existing BYD–Alexander Dennis electric buses in Aberdeen and Ayrshire.
