Doncaster woman runs 101 marathons in 101 days – YorkshireLive
A Doncaster woman has run an astounding 101 marathons in 101 days for charity, raising over £12,000 in the process. Vicky Hogg, a carer for Doncaster’s Council’s steps service, ran over 2,600 miles over three months for multiple South Yorkshire charities.
She managed to complete the feat despite balancing three jobs and tearing her achilles on day eight, using a three wheel bike donated by a local company to complete her marathons until day 50.
She completed the marathons running around South Yorkshire and her hometown of Doncaster[1], where she was greeted by friends, family and supporters as she crossed her final finish line on Friday evening.
Reflecting on the support, she said: “People around my local community have always supported me but because I’ve been running here, where they can get to see me, it has been incredible. It blew my mind.”
“I ended up in someone’s kitchen the other day because I had ran out of food and she made me a sandwich.”
The 101 marathons are not the first time Vicky has given herself a difficult challenge in order to raise money for charity. In 2018, She cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End for the Sick Children’s Trust.

In 2021, she ran the very same distance, again for charity. For Vicky, it’s easy to find the inspiration to complete these challenges for charity.
She said: “I have never been a proper runner, but I’ve always thought I can do stuff to help people. After the bike ride, I thought I could do more. Why not try and raise money for charity while doing something that I enjoy.”
Despite finishing her final marathon on Sunday, she is already looking forward to her next athletic adventure.
“I’ll be going again. I have things up my sleeve but I won’t say too much because my family think I’m mad. “I’ll say this a million times over: It’s all about helping if we can.”
Mayflower Animal Sanctuary Doncaster, Creative Minds, Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support Doncaster and Amber Law’s are the four charities that will benefit from the effort, named ‘Hoggy’s big £1 push’. The GoFundMe is still running and can be donated to here[4].
