Driver faces ban after being caught texting while behind the wheel …

A driver faces being banned after being caught texting while behind the wheel near a college in Nuneaton. Members of Warwickshire[1] Police’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) stopped the driver close to King Edward Road.

“We issued a traffic offence report to a driver who was blatantly texting while he was driving, in Nuneaton[2] town centre, next to the college, with students out on the street,” the team reported on their page on Facebook. “He was running with 12 points on his licence for various other offences so he will likely lose his licence as well.”

It was one of several stop the team made during their shift on Friday, which also includes clocked an Audi on the A38 that had broken down having sustained a flat tyre. On closer inspection the team found that all four tyres were illegal with cords exposed or tread that was below the legal limit.

The driver, who is a probationary licence holder, was issued with a traffic offence report and a PG9 prohibition was placed on the vehicle.
