Driver fed up with ‘watery’ pothole makes sign saying ‘pool under …

A fed-up motorist has mocked the state of a pothole on a major A-road by putting up a sign saying ‘swimming pool under construction’. The crater is said to constantly fill up with water on the A34 in Staffordshire[1].

The motorist is aiming to highlight the dangerous crater with the sign, located on a grass verge along the southbound carriageway of the road, near a roundabout leading to Trentham Monkey Forest, reports our sister title StokeonTrentLive[2]. In big bold letters, coloured red, the sarcastic signs says “warning pothole”.

Further down, the signs mocks “under construction as your new local outdoor swimming pool”. The pothole itself juts out towards the centre of the A34, a dual carriageway.

The pothole is believed to be the responsibility of the highways department under Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The local authority was approached for comment.

It comes as BlackCountryLive visited a Dudley[4] road riddled with so many potholes it needs its own warning signs. The adopted road was likened to a warzone[5] by concerned residents.
