Driver taken to hospital after car overturns in Leicester crash

A woman has been taken to hospital after the car she was driving overturned[1] in Leicester this morning, following a collision. The incident prompted the response of several emergency crews to the scene.

The collision happened at around 8.25am, in Hastings Road, Humberstone. It involved one car, which had hit a lamppost and had overturned.

Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s[2] (LFRS) Eastern and Central fire stations were also called to the scene, as was a team from East Midlands Ambulance Service. Drivers were warned of delays in the area while emergency services were responding.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said the driver had suffered no known injuries in the collision. LFRS said it had safely removed the driver by removing the windscreen, before making the scene safe.

The police[4] spokeswoman added that the woman had been taken to the hospital as a precaution.
