DX Group expands depot network with new sites | South East …
Logistics and parcel distribution company DX Group has established two new dedicated freight facilities, reflecting the continued growth in the division, and forming part of its major investment programme.
The bases in Warrington and Heathrow take the business’ number of sites opened, relocated or expanded since the start of the current financial year to eight, and will serve the Slough-headquartered group’s DX Freight division as well as its DX Express division.
During March, DX Express activities at Warrington were moved to new dedicated facilities in Haydock, enabling the vacated site on the Appleton Industrial Estate to be repurposed and the 30,290 sq ft of space adapted to suit the needs of DX Freight.
Meanwhile, the site at Heathrow is a unit vacated by DX Express following its move to a new base in Bracknell and is adjacent to existing freight facilities at Lakeside Road Industrial Estate.
The larger base doubles the Heathrow freight-handling capacity, further supporting the existing regional hub’s operations.
Additional investment in the depot network is planned over the remainder of DX’s current financial year ending 1 July 2023 as part of its £20-25m investment programme.
Alongside growth in its delivery network, DX continues to invest in new fleet, including electric vehicles, parcel-handling mechanisation and new technology.
Paul Ibbetson, chief executive, said: “We have substantially increased investment in the depot network over recent years and this latest investment at Heathrow and Warrington significantly increases DX Freight’s capacity in two important regions.
“As well as delivering further capacity, the investment will help us to continue to maintain very high service levels as we expand, which is critical to our continued success. Plans are well under way for further investment in the depot network over the remainder of the year.”
