Easter bin collections in Leicester, Blaby, Melton, Harborough …

Most bin collections across Leicestershire are taking place on their normal day over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Bin collections which would take place on Easter Monday in Blaby, however, have been moved.

The waste will instead be collected on Saturday, April 8. Bins set to be emptied on Good Friday[1] in Blaby will be picked up as normal, the council said.

Collections in Leicestershire’s six other districts and boroughs, and in the city, will carry on as normal, the relevant councils have confirmed.

Residents in Leicester will not see any changes. “Waste and recycling collections will continue as normal over Easter,” Leicester City Council[3] said.

North West Leicestershire District Council said: “As our crews work Tuesdays to Fridays, there are no disruptions to the service on bank holiday Mondays. The crews work on Good Friday – so there is no disruption at Easter.”

A spokesman for Harborough District Council[4] said: “There are no changes to domestic waste collections over the Easter weekend.” Melton Borough Council’s spokeswoman said: “Bin collections will remain the same, there won’t be any changes to collections over the bank holidays.”

Hinckley and Bosworth and Oadby and Wigston both said it would also be business as usual for their teams. Charnwood Borough Council asked residents to make sure their bins were ready from 6am on the day of collection.
