Fuel spillage closes major Cambs road for two days

A fuel spillage on a major Cambridgeshire road is caused delays for two days, according to traffic monitoring company Inrix. The A605 Peterborough Road was closed in both directions with traffic moving slowly from Monday, April 24 until Tuesday, April 25.

Inrix first recorded the spillage at 9.11am on Monday, April 24 and it re-opened the following day at around 6.30am. The road[1] was closed between Narrow Drove and Crossway Hand.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: “Crews from Stanground and Dogsthorpe are currently at an incident on the A605 near Whittlesey involving a fuel spillage. The road is likely to be closed most of the day so please seek alternative routes.”

A spokesperson for Fenland Police said: “A605 closed at the Ralph Butchers causeway towards Whittlesey, for the foreseeable future. Please find an alternative route.”
