A man and woman who ran a “well-oiled” drug dealing operation and a student who attacked a man on a night out are among those jailed in Suffolk this week.

Dean Francis and Jane Huchison have been jailed for three years respectively for their part[1] in a drug dealing operation in a Suffolk town.
The pair, from Lowestoft, were arrested after a surveillance operation was launched to crackdown on the suppy of Class A drugs in the town.
Class A drug users were seen going into the homes of both defendants during the operation, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Francis, 44, of Jenkins Green, Lowestoft, and Huchison, 39, of Briarwood Road, Lowestoft, were also seen leaving their homes on foot to meet known drug users.
During the sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court, Judge Martyn Levett described the operation ran by the pair as “relatively well-oiled”.

Lowestoft man Jason Laverty[2] was jailed for five years after he sexually assaulted a schoolgirl.
Laverty, 51, of Commercial Road, admitted two offences of sexual activity with a child during the hearing at Ipswich Crown Court.
The victim had been scared to report the assaults as she was frightened what Laverty could do to her.
Laverty was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

Paul Whall was jailed for 20 months after he grabbed his former partner’s throat, making it hard for her to breath.[3]
Whall, 30, of Newsons Avenue, Beccles, admitted to controlling or coercive behaviour towards his former partner.
The judge at Ipswich Crown Court said Whall made her life “extremely unpleasant”, after Whall had restricted her contact with her friends, controlled what she wore and threatened to self-harm or suicide if she didn’t do as she was told.

He also admitted to being in breach of two suspended prison sentences.
Whall was banned from contacting his former partner.

Richard Smith, 30, was jailed for more than three years[4] after he was found in possesion of 157 indecent images of children.
Smith, of High Street, Lowestoft, was jailed at Ipswch Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent photographs, namely 25 category A images and/or movies of children, 68 category B images and/or movies, of children and 64 category C images and/or movies, of children.
Smith was a known registered sex offender who was serving a suspended sentence for previous convictions related to making indecent images of children.
He was arrested and charged after officers executed a warrant at his address on November 29.
At Ipswich Crown Court, he also pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs, possession of an extreme pornographic image and a breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Nathaniel Baldry
Nathaniel Baldry has been jailed for nearly four years after an attack which left a man with a broken jaw.[5]
Baldry, 24, of St John’s Road, Kirkley, Lowestoft, was on a night out with university friends in Bristol in February last year when the incident happened.
The victim had fallen to his knees after being punched, before he saw Baldry’s foot coming towards his face.
Baldry kicked the victim twice while he was lying on the ground.
Baldry was sentenced to a total of 46 months behind bars.
