Traffic has come to a standstill on the A605 following the closure of the road outside Peterborough on Tuesday afternoon (April 18). The A605 has been closed in both directions near Elton due to "a police incident".
Police have said efforts to locate the driver are "ongoing", adding: "We were called at 1.01pm this afternoon (Tuesday) with reports of a collision on the A605 at Elton where a lorry has jack-knifed and a car has ended up in a hedge.
They added: "The driver of the lorry has left the scene, possibly with injuries. Road has been closed in both directions between the Haddon Services roundabout and Elton. Efforts are ongoing to locate the driver of the lorry to see if he requires medical assistance."
Earlier on, Police asked motorists to "avoid [the] area", a spokesperson added: "A605 Between Elton and Haddon services in both directions is closed following a police incident. Please avoid area and find alternative route, thank you."
At 2.40pm Inrix said: "A605 in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to accident near B671."
