Live: Lorry stuck as bollard rises underneath it in Truro centre
A lorry is currently stuck on Lemon Quay in the middle of Truro after a self-raising bollard got lodged underneath the vehicle. According to a witness, the incident took place at around 1.30pm today (April 18) when the lorry attempted to turn around the corner on the restricted route.
The witness claimed a taxi was ‘blocking’ the lorry’s path before the bollard rose under it as it could not move on beyond it. They told CornwallLive: “Lorry driver couldn’t get round the corner as a taxi was blocking his path when the self raising barriers came up underneath and lodged itself underneath.”
There is one rising bollard at the entrance and one at the exit to the short section of road that crosses the quay. The lorry is stuck on the one that lets vehicles out.
It has happened just outside the Wetherspoon pub Try Dowr. CornwallLive has approached Devon and Cornwall Police for further information.
