Lorry smashes into notorious A5 bridge – live updates as road …
The A5 in Hinckley[1] has been closed after a lorry smashed into a low railway bridge. Police have closed the road between the roundabout connecting to Nutts Lane and the roundabout connecting to the A47.
Motorists have been asked to find an alternative route while the incident is dealt with. The infamous bridge, previously crowned the 'most-bashed in Britain' has been hit on numerous occasions by HGVs.
Leicestershire Police[2] has confirmed it was called at 10.20am today after it was struck once again. The road could remain closed for some time while any damage to the bridge is assessed.
