Lorry teeters on edge of motorway bridge after dramatic crash

A lorry teeters on the brink as it hangs over a motorway bridge on the M1 after a dramatic crash in the Midlands. Startling pictures show the vehicle having almost toppled over onto the carriageway below.

Police were forced to close the M1 southbound between junctions 20 and 19 for Lutterworth and the Catthorpe Interchange following the early morning incident in Leicestershire today, Monday, April 24. The link roads from the M6 south onto the A14 east and the A14 west onto the M6 north were also closed.

There were no reports of injuries. Miles of tailbacks had been reported.

The lorry was later removed and emergency bridge repairs were carried out. There are now delays of around 30 minutes. The M1 closure is expected to remain in place until later this afternoon or early evening.
