Loyal Bolshaws driver gets high-spec DAF XG+

Brand loyalty has paid off for Bolshaw Industrial Powders driver Martin Shaw. His reluctance to drive any brand other than DAF has seen him take the wheel of the latest acquisition at the Macclesfield fleet, a brand new, highly specified DAF XG+. Bolshaws supplies hydrated lime and other blended agricultural and industrial products with its fleet of six tractors and ten trailers.

Bolshaws director, Jonathan Bolshaw, said: “The decision behind which truck to buy is mainly down to driver preference. Martin previously had the DAF XF but we try to give drivers the very best truck we can so now, with bigger and better cabs available, we chose the DAF XG+.”

The DAF XG+ 530 FTN, is one of a pair supplied by Matt Durose at local DAF supplier; Motus Commercials DAF[1] in Stoke-on-Trent. Shaw’s on the left, is a rear-steer tractor with DAF’s Digital Vision System (mirror cams), with microwave and additional Kelsa light bars. Although mostly used for curtainsider deliveries, it’s fitted with Hyva tipping kit for compatibility with the fleet’s bulk tipping trailers. Motus will be responsible for proving technical support for the XF+ with five years’ aftercare R&M.

Driver Shaw said: “I personally really like DAF’s and have driven a succession of DAF models over the years. The driver comfort is much better than the rest of our fleet.” After the first week on the road, he added: “This new DAF XG+ has more comfort and is far better than the rest of our fleet. It’s a big improvement on my previous XF. I love the massive cab and the camera system too, which I’ve gotten used to really quickly. I also didn’t have the steering rear axle previously and it is brilliant! In tight farmyards, the trailer is able to swing around with no problems at all which has made my life a lot easier.”

DAF Trucks be exhibiting at this year’s Road Transport Expo, which takes place at Stoneleigh NAEC on June 28-30. It’s FREE to attend, and registrations are now open.[2]
