M42 lane closure in place as police attend crash near Redditch
Motorists have been warned to expect long delays on the M42 this afternoon following a crash near Redditch. Congestion has begun to build up on the motorway following the collision, which took place on the northbound carriageway between J3 and J3A earlier today, April 7.
National Highways has said there are currently delays of at least 30 minutes and advised drivers to allow extra time for their journeys. A spokesperson said: “Lane one (of three) is closed on the M42[1] northbound between J3 and J3A due to a collision.
“@warkspolice are in attendance. Delays of at least 30 minutes above normal travel times.
“Please allow extra time for your journey. Thank you for your patience.”
Traffic monitoring service Inrix added: “Long delays, one lane closed and queuing traffic for four miles due to accident, a lorry and a car involved on M42 Northbound between J3 A435 Alcester Road (Redditch) and J3A (M40 Interchange).
“Travel time is 30 minutes. Lane one (of three) is closed.”
