A busy Bexley ^[1] road has been closed as police carry out investigations in the area.

Witnesses have said that there was an incident on the A2 eastbound at Falconwood and that there were forensics at the scene.

They added that lanes one and two of three remain shut after a full road blockage since around half past midnight.

Police said they were carrying out operational activity in the area as part of an ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were carrying out operational activity in the area as part of an ongoing investigation.

“We are not commenting further at this time.”

They added that they aim to share further details later today.
