Major Portsmouth train disruption this Easter Sunday due to …
Trains to and from Portsmouth Harbour[1] are facing delays and disruption this Easter Sunday (April 9) following a fault with the signalling system. The fault, which has happened between Portsmouth[2] and Southsea[3] station, and Portsmouth Harbour, has resulted in some lines being blocked which has severely impacted the train timetables.
At the moment, trains running to and from Portsmouth Harbour are being cancelled or delayed by up to 40 minutes. Some trains are also running at revised times.
National Rail has said that trains run by Great Western Railway and South Western Railway are most affected. The most disrupted routes are the Great Western Railway service between Cardiff Central, Bristol Temple Meads and Portsmouth Harbour, and the South Western Railway service between London Waterloo, Woking, Eastleigh, Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour.
The disruption has been ongoing since around 7am and is likely to last until at least midday. South Western Railway has advised its customers that they can use their train tickets on First Bus routes 1, 2 and 3 at no extra cost.
All passengers unsure of how to travel to their destinations have been advised to speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. People with tickets who have been delayed can claim compensation online.
