Man due in court over death of pensioner after lorry crash

A man is set to appear in court in connection with the death of a man following a crash between an artic lorry and a pedestrian in Ferndown[1] over a year ago.

The crash happened on Tuesday, October 5, in 2021 on Ringwood Road, near to The White Heather pub. Officers from Dorset Police[2] then later confirmed they had been called to the scene[3] at around 5.33pm that afternoon.

They confirmed that a man in his 90s was taken to Southampton General Hospital[4] as a result of having suffered “serious” injuries. It was confirmed that he had died two days later in the early hours of Thursday, October 7r.

Following a detailed investigation by the traffic unit, a 60-year-old man from Newport in Wales has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court[6] on Friday 14 April 2023 for an offence of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving[7].
