Man flown to hospital in ‘critical condition’ after being hit by bus

A Portsmouth[1] man is in a “critical contion” after being hit by a bus in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon (Friday, April 7). The man, aged 30, was hit at around 4.45pm yesterday on the southbound carriageway of Mile End Road, at the bottom of the M275 near the Rudmore Roundabout.

Hampshire Constabulary attended the scene alongside paramedics and the air ambulance, who flew the man to Southampton[2] General Hospital. He remains in a critical condition.

In a statement released today (Saturday, April 8), a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon (Friday, 7 April). We were called at 4.45pm to southbound carriageway of Mile End Road, at the bottom of the M275 near the Rudmore Roundabout, to a report of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian.”

They continued: “The pedestrian, a 30-year-old Portsmouth man, was treated by paramedics and the air ambulance before being taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Did you see the collision, or the man at the side of the road prior to the incident?
