A man was punched in the face while waiting in traffic in Cheltenham[1] by an unknown attacker. The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered facial injuries in the incident in Bath Road last Friday (April 14).
He was in a silver Honda CR-V near to the Sainsbury’s Local on the busy road heading out of Cheltenham towards Leckhampton, Gloucestershire police[2] said. While stopped in traffic at around 4.35pm at the junction with the A40 Thirlestaine Road, a man approached the car, swore at the driver, and punched him once through the open driver side window.
The assault caused a split eyebrow and cheek which required medical attention, and also a nosebleed. The offender was described as being white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 10ins in height, of a slim build, with short brown hair and looked gaunt. He was wearing a green nylon jacket.
Gloucestershire police said: “At the time of the incident the offender was with another man who was described as being white, shorter than the suspect and was wearing a blue puffer style jacket. The second man was not involved in the assault.
“It is not known if they had been travelling in a vehicle prior to the assault.”
Police are appealing to anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage to come forward. Information can be provided to police online by completing the online form[4] and quoting incident 332 of April 14.
