Missing Rolo: Hunt for Border Force dog from Stansted Airport
Police have appealed for the public’s help to find a UK Border Force dog that has gone missing from kennels near Stansted Airport.
Rolo the springer spaniel was last seen at about 6pm on Tuesday (April 4).
Essex Police’s Uttlesford division said on Facebook on Tuesday night: “We are currently assisting our UK Border Force colleagues in locating one of their service dogs, Rolo, in the Bury Lodge Lane area of Stansted.

“We would ask the public to keep an eye open and contact us, quoting incident number 1186 04/04/23, if he is sighted or if you have any information as to his whereabouts.”
In an update on Wednesday at 10.30am, they said: “Thank you for the huge number of shares, comments and offers of help.
“The search for Rolo continues alongside partner agencies in line with other policing commitments. We continue to ask the public to keep an eye out in the area.”
One woman commented: “I did see what I thought was a dog running very fast on its own across the field near Birchanger Lane towards Stansted Road about 6.15-ish. Looked like a spaniel – it didn’t come back out onto Stansted Road.”
Border Force is responsible for immigration and customs controls and the screening of passengers, freight and staff at 140 air, sea and rail ports in the UK and western Europe, as well as thousands of smaller airstrips and marinas.
