Motorcyclist suffers potentially serious injuries after Oldbury crash

A motorcyclist suffered potentially serious injuries after a crash with a car on an Oldbury road. The motorcyclist, a man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital[1] following the smash at the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Bleakhouse Road, in Oldbury[2], on Sunday morning, April 23.
West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] said it was called to the scene at 9.29am and sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer. The motorcyclist was assessed at the scene before being rushed to hospital.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.29am on Sunday to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike at the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Bleakhouse Road in Old Warley, Birmingham. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found a man who was the motorcyclist.
"He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment. No further patients required assessment."
Old Warley councillor Jay Anandou has successfully campaigned for a review into road safety measures in Sandwell. Cllr Anandou would like to see more measures implemented along Wolverhampton Road[5], where he considers each junction along its 2.8-mile stretch between Birchley Island and Hagley Road West "dangerous".
