NSU student killed in lorry-motorcycle collision in Lalbagh
A student of North South University was killed after a motorcycle was hit by a lorry in the capital’s Lalbagh last night.
The deceased was identified as Sanjida Akter Tamanna, 27, a final-year BBA student of North South University (NSU).
The accident took place around 10pm on Friday in front of Shamim Garments near Lalbagh’s Beribadh area, confirmed Lalbagh Deputy Commissioner Md Jafar Hossain.
The victim was going from Dhanmondi to her home in kamrangirChar riding a Pathao bike, the official added.
“First she was rushed to a local hospital from where she was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, the duty doctor in DMCH announced her dead,” said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
Police detained the driver and seized the covered van.
In a Facebook post from their verified page, the vice-chancellor and pro-vc of NSU expressed their condolences to Sanjida’s family.
