Organisations unite to offer help in one of city’s most deprived areas

Free advice on managing personal finances, health and safety matters and home security is being offered to residents living in one of Wolverhampton[1]‘s most deprived neighbourhoods. People in the Low Hill area are invited to attend an open day tomorrow, Thursday April 6, at The Hub within the community centre in Kempthorne Avenue between 10am and 2pm.

A variety of city organisations and charities will be on hand to provide support at the public event, organised by the council’s Public Protection Scams Team, who will be handing out free scams awareness and prevention packs. Anyone concerned about financial issues and the cost of living crisis will be able to talk to advisors from the CAB Money Advice Service, the Council Tax team and Wolverhampton Homes Money Smart Team.

Representatives from Access to Business, Admiral Nurses specialising in dementia care, Black Country Alzheimer’s Society, Black Country Impact, the Public Protection Scams team, STARFISH Wolverhampton Social Hub, SUIT, who offer support to anyone affected by substance misuse, will also be there. Wolves at Work and Wolverhampton Memory Assessment Service, part of the Black Country Healthcare NHS[3] Foundation Trust, will also be available.

Becky Wilkinson, the council’s Director of Adult Services, said: “This will be the sixth in our series of ‘Help at the Hub’ days which take support and advice into local communities. People can pop in and get help with any concerns they may have about health, advice on security or discover more about how to develop skills and find opportunities for learning as well. No appointments are necessary but residents are asked to please be prepared to wait if the event is busy. Anyone is welcome to attend for free help and assistance.”
