Our Liverpool: Give Birkenhead what Liverpool can’t have

Birkenhead made headlines this morning as Birkenhead Park was named in a shortlist of seven sites that could join the World Heritage Status list. The once world-leading park is one of a number that inspired the creator of New York's Central Park and the push for it to join the prestigious list dates as far back as 2013 ^[1] or further.

Many think the park deserves it, myself included, not only for the fact it would restore to Merseyside what was taken from Liverpool only years ago ^[2], but because of the park's heritage ^[3] its beauty.

Elsewhere, police confirmed a body was found in the water at Salthouse Dock. A considerable police presence was spotted on the dock yesterday, and Mersey Fire and Rescue Service were on scene.^[5]

Lap-dancing clubs seek licenses to operate in city centre

Liverpool City Council is due to make a decision on two applications for sexual entertainment licenses for lap-dancing clubs in the city centre. No objections by the public have been made according to the report, and Merseyside Police have not made any objection either.

The decisions will be made on Tuesday, April 18.^[6]
