Pedestrian fighting for life after being hit by car in Surrey village
A pedestrian is fighting for life after being involved in a collision with a car in a Surrey village. Surrey Police said the incident happened on Parkgate Road in Newdigate on Sunday evening (April 2).
The man, whose age has not been given, was taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as life-threatening.
Police said at just after 7pm that Parkgate Road was closed off. The closure is in place between the junction with Hogspudding Lane and Blanks Lane.
Police said in an update on the incident: “Officers are on the scene following a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Parkgate Road in Newdigate. The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. His next of kin are aware and being supported by officers.
“The road is currently closed between the junction with Hogspudding Lane and Blanks Lane. There is no access to Parkgate Road from Broad Lane, which is shut from the junction with Shellwood Road. We will provide an update as soon as we are able. Thank you for your patience.”
