The box truck driver who crashed through a fence at a Norfolk gas station Wednesday[1] is now facing operating under the influence charges.
Keith Johnson, 54, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island was arrested the day after the white box truck he was driving hit a gas pump and stopped just short of falling off a wall.
Officers responded to the Daley Service Center on Rockwood Road for a reported crash at approximately 1:47 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Norfolk Police Department.
An initial investigation concluded that Johnson struck a traffic island before careening into the gas station. The out-of-control truck crashed through a fence before coming to a stop with the front end of the vehicle dangling over the wall.
Johnson was transported to a local hospital and was released.
Police determined that there was probable cause to share Johnson with OUI. In addition, Johnson is also facing charges of negligent driving, marked lane violation and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Johnson was arraigned in Wrentham District Court and released on personal recognizance.
