Reason Melton Road through Leicester was shut last night

A pedestrian was stuck by a car on Melton Road in the city last night, leading to Leicestershire Police[1] shutting a section of the road in Rushey Mead[2]. The road was closed from about 6pm between the junction with Sandringham Avenue and the Lanesborough Road roundabout.
In a tweet at about 6.20pm on Sunday evening, the police said: "Road closed – Melton Road from Sandringham Avenue to Lanesborough Road junctions in both directions due to a road traffic accident. Please avoid this route. Thank you."
Today a spokesman for the force said a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a car. But they had not suffered any life-changing or life-threatening injuries.
He said: "We were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian just after 6pm. No life-threatening or life-changing injuries were reported."
The road re-opened at about 6.30pm.
