The M27 was closed through Hampshire this morning (April 3) following what was described as a “serious” crash near Southampton. Both eastbound and westbound routes were confirmed to be closed between J2 (Salisbury) and J3 (M271) at around 8.15am on Monday with emergency services, including an air ambulance, on the scene.

However, the eastbound carriageway quickly reopened, while a two-lane closure was implemented westbound. Hampshire Police later provided this statement: “We were called at 7.44am today (Apirl 3) to a road traffic collision on the M27 westbound between junctions 2 and 3. This involved a van and a lorry. Minor injuries have been reported.”

All lanes reopened just after 10am. HampshireLive provided updates below.
