POLICE have closed a Dorset road for a ‘long duration’ following a crash.

The incident has happened on the Old Sherborne Road near Cerne Abbas, with drivers asked to avoid the area.

Sherborne Police said on social media that the crash occurred between the junctions with Alton Lane and Piddle Lane.

“This will be a long duration, so please plan your route accordingly to avoid delays,” the force added.

“We will update once the road is back open.”
