Sandwell Council update after major spillage closes West Bromwich …

Visitors to a family attraction have been promised refunds after a major spillage closed a road for two days during the Easter holidays. Forge Lane in West Bromwich[1] closed on Tuesday, April 4, after the fuel spillage near Hilltop Golf Course.

That also included the closure of Forge Mill Farm to visitors. Sandwell Council said clean-up work was completed yesterday, April 5, and one lane had reopened but delays were possible.

Forge Mill Farm and Swan Pool were open as normal today, April 6. Sandwell Council said anyone who had bought tickets to attend any events or activities at the farm could request a full refund by contacting [email protected][2].

A spokesperson for Sandwell Council said: “A cordon was quickly established to allow West Midlands Fire Service to carry out work to make the site safe. A multi-agency partnership supported this work, including West Midlands Police[4] officers and council staff who secured the site overnight.”

Shokat Lal, chief executive of Sandwell Council, added: “I want to thank partners and council staff for their rapid work to respond to this major incident. This is a great example of agencies working together, and I would also like to thank those who were visiting or travelling through the area for their patience as the work to make the site safe was carried out.”
