Savar road accident: 2 buses torched as biker killed

Two passenger buses were set on fire after a motorcycle rider was killed in a road accident in Savar’s Abdullapur-Baipail road this morning.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.

The accident took place at Jirabo area around 7:45am, reports our local correspondent quoting Kabir Hossain, station officer of Jirabo Fire Service.
He said that a motorcyclist was killed when a Abdullapur-bound passenger bus of Alinur Paribahan ran over him. Two Alinur Paribahan buses were set on fire by enraged people.
Eyewitnesses said that the motorcycle rider was killed when the two buses were jostling to overtake one another.
“At 8:00am, two firefighting units arrived at the scene and around 9:45am, the fire was put out,” he said.
The burnt buses have been taken off the road to ensure regular traffic movement, he added.
The body of the deceased has been recovered by the police, said Masud Al Mamun, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station.
