Motorists have been warned to expect delays ahead of a huge charity biker rally which will see 4,000 motorcyclists travel across Shropshire[1]. Bike4Life will take place this Sunday, April 23, where a huge convoy of riders will travel 23 miles between Shrewsbury and RAF Cosford.

The event see start at Meole Brace in Shrewsbury before heading along the A5, M54[2] and A41 to RAF Cosford, arriving at around 11.40am. National Highways says there were be slip road closures on the M54 at junctions 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

There will also be traffic restrictions on the A41 and drivers can expect delays at Meole Brace, A5 Dobbies, A5 Emstrey and A5 Preston Boats roundabouts. Last year Bike4Life raised £82,000 was raised for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Each year the event raises money for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Riders are encouraged to sign up for spaces beforehand. National Highways senior network planner, Frank Bird, said: “We are always happy to support the Bike4Life Ride Out which raises essential funds for this very valuable service.

“It is quite incredible to see the huge convoy of motorbikes on our roads but we appreciate it can cause some disruption for other road users for a short time. So we would advise anyone due to travel through this area on Sunday to plan ahead and avoid the times of the ride out if possible. If that’s not possible, set off early and allow extra time for your journey.”

National Highways said it will have additional traffic officers patrolling the route. The Midlands Air Ambulance reaches on motorcycle on average each week, with the money raised from the rally going to help its life-saving work.

Those expected to attend Bike4Life this year are World Superbike legend Carl Fogarty MBE and former UK special forces soldier and SAS: Who Dares Wins star, Ollie Ollerton, GP rider and TV commentator Steve Parrish and influencer Ruby Rides.
