  • The airline said that the driver fainted while driving, causing him to lost control and hit the jet before it was set to take off for Los Angeles International Airport
  • The extent of the driver’s injuries are unknown; the passengers were placed on a second aircraft and completed their flight later in the evening

This is the terrifying moment a driver fainted behind the wheel and slammed his truck into jet filled with passengers at an airport in western Mexico[2].

The dramatic footage shows the truck approaching a Viva Aerobus plane before ramming into its fuselage last Friday.

The aircraft was due to depart from Guadalajara International Airport to Los Angeles[3] but all of the passengers had to get off after a hole was left in the rear of the aircraft.

The driver was operating a catering truck and delivering food to another airplane in the vicinity when he suddenly lost consciousness, Viva Aerobus said in a statement.

The Mexican airport accident comes nearly four months after two airport firemen died after their firetruck slammed into a LATAM Airlines plane as it was about to take off from Lima International Airport.

The bizarre security camera footage showed the truck speeding down the runway and directly into the path of the jet that was carrying 120 passengers.

The airplane could be seen hitting the firetruck head on, causing it to catch fire as the area immediately became engulfed in flames and smoke.

In May 2017, an Aeromexico airplane hit a catering truck moments after it had landed at Los Angeles International Airport, leaving eight workers aboard the vehicle with injuries.
