Wendy’s opens in city centre as people queue along High Street
The first Wendy’s burger restaurant has opened in Lincoln city centre. Team members from the Wendy’s in the High Street, Lincoln, cut the ribbon at 11am on Wednesday, April 12.
There was a big queue for the opening as the restaurant offered its first 50 customers a free burger and gave them all a golden ticket to receive a free burger on their next order. The restaurant in place of the former Monsoon clothing shop and sits opposite Speaker’s Corner at 195 High Street, Lincoln[1].
Lincolnshire Live[2] spoke to some of the customers at the opening. Rachael Reeve, 50, who came with her daughter and a friend, said: “It’s for the kids. Their pleased because they’re going to get a free burger. I knew it was opening soon, but not that soon.”

Liam Whitehead, 20, “It’s been quite a good experience. I’d say it tasted definitely fresher and the pricing is indicative of the quality that you get.”
Another man, who did not want to be named, said: “It should do alright, it’s in a good location. Just waiting for it to open. I just wanted to give it a go, didn’t know they were doing free burgers. I not tried it before.”

Team member George Adams, said: “There are 6,000 restaurants worldwide and this is the first of two in the north of the UK, but the first restaurant in the whole of Lincolnshire. As you can see people really want a fresh never frozen burger.
“People want Wendy’s amazing quality and value that you only get at Wendy’s and everyone’s super excited about it and so are we.”
Mr Adams said more Wendy’s stores were planned across Lincolnshire very soon, with an extra 40 planned to be opened across the UK this year.
