Woman dies after her car is hit by a lorry in horrific scenes in East …

A woman has died after a lorry crashed into her car this morning in East London. Just after 8.30am today (Wednesday, April 19) the woman’s car was struck by the lorry at the junction of New Road and Wennington Road in Rainham, on the border of London and Essex.

Police and ambulance services[1] rushed to the scene but despite first aid, the female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Road closures are still in place in the area while emergency[2] services respond to the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called at 8.31am to New Road at the junction with Wennington Road, Essex. A lorry was reported to have been in collision with a car.

“London Ambulance Service,[3] London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite first aid, the female deriver of the car was reported dead at the scene. Enquiries continue to inform next of kin. Local road closures are in place while emergency services deal. Enquiries continue.”
