Woman dies in serious A1306 Rainham New Road crash after car …
A woman has tragically died following a serious crash in Rainham this morning (April 19). The incident happened on New Road, at the junction with Wennington Road, where emergency services were called at around 8.31 am.
The crash involved a car and lorry and the female driver of the car sadly died at the scene. The Metropolitan Police Service have confirmed they are working to contact the driver’s next of kin.
London Fire Brigade and London Air Ambulance also attended the scene of the crash, which has shut the road in both directions as emergency services conduct accident investigation work. Long delays are also being reported in Wennington and Rainham as the traffic flow is backed up from the closure.
An investigation has started to look into the circumstances of the incident. MPS has released a statement about the incident. A spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 08:31hrs to New Road at the junction with Wennington Road, Essex.
“A lorry was reported to have been in collision with a car. London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance attended.
“Despite first aid, the female driver of the car was reported dead at the scene. Enquiries continue to inform the next of kin. Local road closures are in place while emergency services deal. Enquiries continue.”
