Woman flees scene after crashing Mini into roundabout

Police are continuing investigations after a driver crashed into a roundabout in Cornwall[1]. The single-vehicle crash, involving a Mini Cooper, took place on Treswithian Road in Camborne[2].

Devon[3] and Cornwall[4] Police were called at approximately 12.40am to the site of the crash where a car had left the road and collided with a roundabout. Upon arriving, officers found the driver of the car had left the scene.

Local searches took place and a woman in her 40s was arrested in connection to the incident. She has since been released and enquiries are continuing into who was driving the car at the time.

The crash was posted to the Devon and Cornwall Police Roads Policing Team Twitter account which advised: “#YouCantParkThere.”

The tweet said: “Yet another great example of poor driving due to suspected impairment in #Camborne tonight. #YouCantParkThere. Luckily no injuries, only a sign and foliage damaged. No other vehicles involved. 1 in custody helping with enquiries.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police[7] said: “Police were called today at around forty minutes past midnight following reports of a single vehicle collision on Treswithian Road, Camborne involving a Mini Cooper that had left the road and collided with a roundabout.

“Units attended but the driver of the vehicle had left the scene. Localised searches took place and police arrested a women in her 40’s in connection to this matter. She has since been released from custody and police enquiries continue in relation to identifying who was driving the vehicle when this incident took place.

“Highways attended the scene to make repairs on the roundabout. The vehicle was collected and scene cleared by around 3am.”
