Yachtsman ‘in distress’ in Hadleigh Ray after boat overturns in water
A yachtsman had to be rescued after becoming ‘in distress’ after their boat overturned in water. National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) in Canvey Island were alerted to reports of a yachtsman in difficulty, after they spotted an overturned boat in Hadleigh Ray.
Southend RNLI was tasked to attend to the incident with their Inshore Lifeboat, and was able to recover the casualty and vessel to safety.
A spokesperson for NCI Canvey Island said: “NCI Canvey Island today reported a yachtsman in difficulty to HM Coastguard Dover, having spotted the overturned vessel and yachtsman in distress in Hadleigh Ray.
“Southend RNLI were tasked to attend the incident with their Inshore Lifeboat, and were able to recover the casualty and vessel to safety. Well done to all those involved in a successful rescue.”
