75-year-old pedestrian in critical condition after hit by car
A 75-year-old man is suffering severe injuries after being struck by a car outside of a marked crosswalk Friday night, police say.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to a crash at E. Lake Mead Boulevard east of N. Pecos Road around 11:36 p.m.
According to the investigation, a pedestrian was attempting to cross to the north side of E. Lake Mead Boulevard outside a marked or implied crosswalk when he was struck by a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder approaching N. Pecos Road.
Pedestrian Nasser Pooya was transported to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit in critical condition.
Driver impairment was not a factor in the crash, police say.
The driver was identified as 35-year-old man Jeffrey Paquette Jr. from Somerset, Massachusetts.
LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is continuing the investigation.
