Air ambulance descends to Waltham Abbey as 10 injured in serious bus crash
Four people have been hospitalised following a serious crash involving a bus in Waltham Abbey this morning (May 23). The incident happened on Marsh Hill where emergency services were called at 11.35am.
East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), Essex Police (EP), and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Service (EHAAT) attended the scene where the collision involved a Vectare route 505 and a van. When emergency service workers arrived, ten people were assessed before four people were rushed to Princess Alexandria Hospital via road ambulance.
The conditions of the casualties are yet to be confirmed. Vectare Bus took to Twitter to announce the Route 505 bus will be suspended until further notice.
In the tweet, they wrote: ” The vehicle operating route 505 has been involved in a serious RTC. Route 505 is currently suspended until further notice.
“Affected passengers who cannot use other local bus services should take a taxi and email [email protected] to reclaim this cost.” Essex Police has confirmed they help managed traffic and a road was put in place from around 12.13pm.
However, social media posts have said there is a road closure between these points as emergency services deal with the incident. A East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Four ambulances, three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles, two ambulance officer vehicles, a rapid response vehicle, and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Marsh Hill (B194) Waltham Abbey this morning at 11.35am following reports of a serious road traffic collision.
“Ten patients were assessed at the scene and four were transported by road ambulance to Princess Alexandria Hospital.” Essex Police confirmed they assisted to managed traffic and a road closure was put in place from around 12.13pm.
