A BUSY motorway has been closed in both directions after a horror crash.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the A9 at Dalmagarry earlier this morning.

The serious crash has seen the road shut down in both directions with cops warning it will be closed for some time.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and diversions are in place.

Police Scotland’s[1] Highlands and Islands Division posted to their social media[2]: “Officers are dealing with a crash on the A9 near Dalmagarry.

“The road is closed in both directions and likely to be closed for some time.

“There are local diversions in place. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area meantime.”

The road has been shut down at nearby Tomatin.

Traffic Scotland said: “The A9 is currently CLOSED in both directions at Tomatin due to a serious collision.

“Emergency Services are currently en-route and traffic is stationary on approach.”
