Driver killed in crash with tree in Ionia County
IONIA COUNTY, MI -- A 25-year-old driver was killed in a crash with a tree, the Ionia County Sheriff’s Officer reports.
At 7:33 p.m. Saturday, May 20, Ionia County Central Dispatch received an emergency call reporting a vehicle collided with a tree on Kimball Road near Murphy Road in Lyons Township.
Deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office responded along with local fire and emergency medical personnel. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on preliminary investigation, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to police. The driver was identified as a 25-year-old male from Ionia County. No additional information about the driver is being released at this time, police said.
Lyons-Muir Township Fire Department, Portland Ambulance, Pewamo- Westphalia Fire Department, Ionia County Victim’s Advocates, Reed and Hoppes Towing, Medical Investigator’s Office and the Ionia County Central Dispatch assisted during the response.
