Heavy traffic on A63 following collision – live updates

There is heavy traffic on the A63 following a serious collision near South Cave.

The incident led to traffic in the eastbound carriageway being temporarily held near the A1034 exit though it has since been released with the road down to one lane.

The collision comes only two days after a lorry crashed[1] through the central barrier on the same stretch of the A63 and shed its load of limestone. The incident led to significant delays of approximately seven hours on Tuesday, with both carriageways being temporarily closed to traffic.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency services carry out their work.

Traffic regulator Inrix initially provided the following update: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on the A63 Eastbound before The A1034.”

It later said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic for three miles due to accident on the A63 Eastbound before The A1034. Congestion to J38 (North Cave). Travel time is around 15 minutes.”

More updates to follow.
