Full statement from National Highways
A statement on the National Highways website said:
"There are long delays on the M60 anti-clockwise in Greater Manchester within J1 (Stockport) due to a multi vehicle collision. National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene. Recovery of the vehicles are taking place and lanes 2 and 3 (of 3) are currently closed.
"There are 5 miles of congestion on the M60 anti clockwise leading back to J5. There are also 7 miles of congestion on the M56 eastbound leading back towards J6. This is causing combined delays of 60 mins above normal travel time.
"Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time and consider alternative routes if possible.
