Live M1 updates as crash and broken down van at J25 cause delays near Nottinghamshire
Drivers are facing delays on the M1 near[1] Nottinghamshire on Thursday afternoon. Two incidents have caused disruption on the major route.[2] Stop-start traffic is being reported for four miles and one lane closed due to broken down van on M1 Northbound between junction 24 and Junction 25.
Leicestershire Police has confirmed that five vehicles were involved in the crash on the M1 Northbound. Traffic monitoring site Inrix states: “Stop-start traffic for four miles and one lane closed due to broken down van on M1 Northbound between J24 A453 Ashby Road (Nottingham South / East Midlands Airport) and J25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby). Congestion to J23A (Derby / East Midlands Airport / Tamworth). Travel time is 15 minutes. Lane one (of four) is closed.”
It comes after an earlier collision between Junction 20 and 21 caused delays. Leicestershire Live reports traffic was held at around 2.50pm between Junction 20 and 21, following a crash on the northbound carriageway.
A spokesperson said: “We received a report of a collision involving five vehicles shortly after 2.15pm. No life-threatening injuries were reported and the road has since reopened.”
