M1 crash near Milton Keynes causing six-mile queues and hour-long delays
Motorists are warned to plan ahead after a crash on a major Buckinghamshire route. The incident is causing lengthy delays and queues in the county.
The collision took place on the M1 Northbound[1] between Junction 14 for Milton Keynes[2] and Junction 15 for Northampton. It was first reported at around 11am.
Emergency services including Thames Valley Police[3] are at the scene. Inrix, the traffic data company, warns that two lanes are currently shut.
As a result of the incident, there is around six miles of traffic near Milton Keynes and delays of up to an hour. Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue[5] are also at the scene, as are National Highways traffic officers.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "There are delays of up to 60 minutes on the M1 in Buckinghamshire / Northamptonshire between J14 (near Milton Keynes) and J15 (near Northampton) due to collision involving a lorry. Thames Valley Police, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service[6] are on scene.
"National Highways Traffic Officers are also at scene assisting with traffic management. There are approximately six miles of congestion[7] on approach to the incident.
"If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
