Man fatally struck by vehicle in Newark, cops say

Authorities are investigating the death of a Newark man who was struck by a vehicle early Sunday.

Laquan Lamar Jones, 49, was struck about 1:55 a.m. on the 600 block of Springfield Avenue and dies shortly after at the scene, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police said in a joint statement.

The authorities did not reveal any additional details about the crash or the vehicle that hit Jones, but said no arrests had been made as of Sunday night.
